Congratulations to our 2023 SCWC Notable Book Award Finalists

Meet the books and authors


Finalists have been announced for the 2023 SCWC Notable Book Awards finalists. The winners will be announced at the SCWC Notable Book Awards Ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 10, in Northport, Alabama. 

The awards, which are sponsored by the Southern Christian Writers Conference, recognize outstanding achievement by Christian authors in these categories: nonfiction (traditionally published), nonfiction (self published), fiction (traditionally published), fiction (self published), devotional books, and children's/young adult books. Eligible books must have been published in the prior calendar year (2023). Finalists and winners are selected by evaluations of their excellence in: writing quality, production/design, and inspirational message. The books are judged by staff members of the Southern Christian Writers Conference.

Nonfiction (Traditionally published)

As a result of this devastating tragedy, Susan has made it her mission to share the lessons God taught her in the wake of Michael's death. Even though Susan and her family will never fully recover from the emotional wounds caused by grief and deep sorrow, she offers encouragement, hope, and purpose to other survivors of veteran suicide.


Youth Group Theology: Responses to 50 of Teenagers' Most Asked Questions, by Haylee Collins

Youth groups are full of teenage theologians. They ask deep questions, seek sincere answers, and desire to know God in a personal way. Unfortunately, adults often dismiss their questions, thinking that they're too immature to understand the Bible or too young to handle complex concepts. All of the finalists are excellent examples of quality writing, outstanding presentation, and faith-filled messaging.
